Synopsis: Monica a young girl from Romania, with dreams of becoming a concert pianist, falls victim to human trafficking and ends up as a prostitute in Bergen. We witness her daily struggles locked up by a ruthless pimp in a shabby apartment.
From the director’s statement:
When I was finishing film school I was struggling with finding a topic for my graduation film when I met my cousin who works as an activist fighting human trafficking in Norway. We talked about the issues and concerns surrounding prostitution in Bergen and I was immediately interested in sharing it with the world. It is a very relevant topic that we, as a society, know very little about and I wanted to make it my duty to educate people and raise awareness about a crucial problem affecting our world today.
Monica (Norway) will be screened at No Gloss Film Festival 2015.
