official selection 2012 the virgin herod xander robin

This is the “face” of the festival and we’ve saved the best for last. And we’re making sure that you get to experience this gem on the big screen. Written and directed by Xander Robin (USA), it tells the tale of young man who is wrought with anxiety over the object of his desire. And check out the great tagline, short and succinct:  “It’s called a crush because it hurts.”

Awarding this the Official Selection laurel is a total no-brainer.
Our verdict: An excellent Kubrick-inspired short that takes the concept of anxiety to a whole new visual level. Brilliantly executed.
