If you had the opportunity to make a sequel to a classic, what would it be and how would you do it? For Rob Fatal, it has to be done in the most fun and campest way possible.
La Bamba 2 is the parody sequel to the 1987 biopic starring Lou Diamond Phillips as rock n roll star Ritchie Valens. With strong themes and explorations around expressionism and surrealism, it follows the story of wannabe celebrity Rob Fatal, who literally gets dragged into hell by Ritchie Valens’ girlfriend Donna. Ritchie has been kidnapped by a bunch of crazed, mutated dead rockstars (Kurt Cobain & Friends) and Donna wants Rob to save him. In his journey through hell to save Ritchie, Rob experiences the most strangest, almost Lynchian encounters with demons, sirens and other dead celebrities, where he begins to question the nature of celebrity, religion, identity and his own desires.
Equal parts sci-fi, midnight film horror and humour noir, La Bamba 2 will have you on the edge of your seat as it leads you kicking, screaming and laughing, down the road to the ultimate trash experience.
